What's A RealPASS

The RealPASS program was developed by a concerned Real Estate Agent, Michelle Wood, who was looking for a way to reduce the real estate industry's impact on Global Warming and over development.  Additionally,  she wanted to make a environmental contribution to the local communities in which she lived and worked.

Many of her clients were concerned about the negative impact housing has on the environment and additionally, 1) Buyers found the newly constructed green homes too expensive or inconveniently located. 2) Sellers of older pre-existing homes had no way to contribute or attract green minded buyers.

She needed to find an easy to use tool that would allow everyone (current homeowners, future buyers/ sellers, and developers) the opportunity to make a difference - Maybe they could off-set the carbon released during the construction of their homes? Existing homeowners could feel good about their  home purchases and new buyers/developers would have another option for a "green" home. She also felt that buying an existing home was a great way to recycle and lower our carbon footprint.  RealPass could lower it even more!  That's when the RealPASS program was born.

RealPASS uses a Construction Carbon Calculator, developed by Mithun Architects and The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, to determine the amount of carbon released during the building of a home, development, or home site.  It considers what plant life was destroyed or replaced during construction, materials used, and the region where it was built. (I'm sure there is a math whiz that could go into more detail, but you get the idea :)

The RealPASS takes your home's specific carbon released, and charges per metric ton to quote a your RealPASS amount. This makes your home's construction carbon-neutral.

You can buy a RealPASS at any time!  Many buyers and seller will pay their RealPASS at the closing transaction, but help us and buy whenever you can!

We are making a local difference!
The proceeds collected from the RealPASS program are given to a Land Trust organization located in the state and county where your home was purchased or sold.  Yes - the funds are given locally.  Land Trust organizations buy and preserve open land by restricting their development -  Ensuring their enjoyment by native wildlife and future generations.

It's easy!  Just follow the steps 1,2,3.  The age of your home  doesn't matter - with a RealPASS, any home can become carbon-neutral.  You don't have to limit your buying choices to just newly built green homes.  Anyone can offset the carbon released for building a home with this program!

Do your part to help the earth in an affordable way!  Buying an existing home is the ultimate form of recycling and now you can make any home a "GREEN" home with a RealPASS!

Just fill out our RealPASS order form and send it to us.  We will contact you soon with your personal RealPASS amount.

Do you know anyone that would appreciation this program?  If so please send us their information.

*************************
At this time 100% of the proceeds collected from the RealPASS program are going to your home's local land trust organizations.  We hope to continue this, but we also hope this idea will spread.  If we find the need to hire staff to help, we might have to take a small % to pay them.  If this happens, we will contact you before we process your request and make sure you still want to order your RealPASS.

Three Easy Steps to Order your RealPASS!

  1. Fill out the RealPASS order form with accurate information regarding  the home you own, want to buy, or development you are building and submit it to us.
  2. Then, your information is used to calculate the metric tons of carbon that were released during the construction of your home and a RealPASS quote will be sent to you.
  3. Review your quote and decide you'll make a difference for the earth and your local community by purchasing a RealPASS for your home.

If you are buying or selling a home, we would be happy to send you a quote too. Then the RealPASS can be paid when the transaction is complete. Proceeds are given to a Land Trust organization located in the state and county where the home was purchased. Anyone can offset the carbon released for building a home with this program!

I better make sure to tell everyone that I am a real estate broker in North Carolina and work with Easy Realty.  This site is not a part of Easy Realty, but I am required to let you know I am. :)
